Mission Impossible 4 Movie Updates

Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, the fourth Tom Cruise super spy film and first sequel to drop the number from its title, is currently shooting for its late 2011 release. It's been five years since the last sequel of Mission Impossible. We're all wondering if Ethan can still do the stunts like what Tom used to do --- or maybe the other way around.

The new images feature franchise star Tom Cruise, 48 years young but still in great action hero shape, as well as co-stars Simon Pegg and Paula Patton in cold Vancouver outdoor weather after moving production over to Canada from Dubai.

Ghost Protocol is touted as being the potential start to a new direction (and lead star) for the franchise, with newfound Hollywood A-lister Jeremy Renner joining the cast of M:I4 with the objective of the studio to have him take over the series from Cruise. Along with the powerful addition of Renner, fan-favorite Lost star Josh Holloway and Just Wright’s Paula Patton join the cast which also includes Mission: Impossible familiars Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames.

Mission Impossible 4 Movie in 2011

The movie Impossible is still in very early stages but we're hearing more details about this fourth opus of the Mission Impossible movie series as time goes by.

While appearing on a popular Japanese program, SMAP SMAP, to promote Valkyrie, Tom Cruise said that they were working on the story. He even teases his Japanese public saying that they're thinking of staging a big action sequence in downtown Tokyo.

More recently JJ Abrams who directed the third movie told that Tom Cruise ask him to produce Mission Impossible 4:

J.J. Abrams - Mission Impossible 4 Movie
"I am incredibly honored that Tom Cruise has invited me back as producer on Mission Impossible 4. Tom and I have come up with a really cool idea we are pursuing."it’s not a literal sequel.
J.J. Abrams

JJ Abrams is probably to busy with his movie schedule to direct himself, but Tom Cruise wants Abrams' magic touch. That's why he proposed him to be producer on MI4.
